When life gets hectic and a little bit manic, it’s time to keep your outfit simple…without sacrificing on style of course fillies! Yes, your life may be a constant battle against the clock, but by adding timeless pieces to your arsenal of awesome you will be perma on trend. In a particularly manic whirlwind of work last week, one particularly marvellous OOTD kept Leigh ahead of the storm in style. Pinafore perfection came to the rescue! Click this way and find out more about the wardrobe hero you just gotta nab to be #OOTD perfect err day…
Jeeeeeeeeeeeez Louise! The past week and a bit can only be described as “run off my tootsies awesomeness” and I had to be super smart with my wardrobe to keep up with my hectic schedule of filming and frantic-ness. Yup, I needed outfits that would deliver in practicality but not quit in the fashion stakes. Enter one particular champion of the week – the utter OOTD perfection in the shape of this dark denim do-gooder of a pinafore from one of my fave high street haunts, River Island. Seriously, if I could live in one shop for the rest of my naturals, it would be good ol’ RI. And when they have a sale on, DON’T even question where I have disappeared to! You will find me here, struggling under a mountain of bargains and this is where this little dungaree dream came from, fellow bargainistas. Now, as you may or my not remember, my eternal love for the dungaree is real! Don’t believe me? Check out my “Giving Summer The Cold Shoulder: OOTD” post here to fully understand my obsession. So it made perfect sense for me to take the summery leap and get the legs out in this beaut.
Last week was an utter scorcher and I needed quick, minimal fuss, maximum impact outfits and this one was an utter style saviour. Great for getting changed in and out of on set quickly, whilst cool enough both in how it looked and how it felt on (no sticky ickyness here), this little love was just completely easy breezy to wear. This particular pinafore is both form fitting and moves with you thanks to a good bit of stretchiness in the fabric – which made running for those delayed trains to Elstree that were the bane of my week child’s play and not a wiggle-a-thon, which can be often be the blight of a non-stretch denim! No one wants their thighs smushed together on a hot summer’s day fillies!!! Am I right?
The rest of my OOTD had to fall in line with the gauntlet set down by the pinafore of course. I went for basics which, ironically, are anything but basic. I think with key wardrobe staples it’s ALWAYS best to invest in a lil bit of quality, as these then tend to last the test of time. My t-shirt is Mango and is a real go-to of mine as it washes a dream and is always miraculously rumple-free and forgiving despite how much I hammer it and throw it on the floor when quick changing! For footwear, you can never go wrong with Converse for comfort and blogger-worthy fashion snaps…and being able to bound across London blister-free is an utter bonus. Also I just love the fact you can throw them in the washing machine to bring them up whiter than white after a day of trampling about or a night of dancing and beer being spilt on them! Paired with these cutesy frilly socks from Primark (which I have in every colour), they add a nice 50s kitsch to the outfit. Lastly, the finishing touch has to be these Ericka Ray Bans from Pretavoir – which has the most awesome selection of designer sunnies and THE best sale section. I professed my love for these sunglasses in our “Faux Sure” post at the beginning of the year and they have permanently been in my bag ever since. I just love the flock finish on these as it means they grip to your nose, no matter how hot and “glowing” you may be! Sometimes the making of an outfit is the devil in the deets you pick to elevate it and with these little lot of bad boys, I think this outfit is both naughty AND nice.
In keeping with the “classic with a twist” vibe of the outfit, I needed a face that would go the distance with me, as well as add a needed fun pop of colour to the look. I went for strong brows using my fave palette, Collection’s Eyebrow Kit in Brunette, and bold coral orange lips using Primark’s P.S I Love You range, with fluttering lashes thanks to Bare Minerals Lash Domination mascara.
But all these show stoppers were supported by my hero product of the summer – Oxygenetix’s Oygenating Foundation. Favourite of celebrity make-up artists and the stars (including the Kardashians – eek), this product is a marathon runner of marvels for your skin. Providing real benefits with skin-loving ingredients including Aloe, Vitamin E, Grape Seed and Green Tea, it’s oxygenated formula feeds your face, promoting collagen production whilst providing flawless coverage that lets your skin breathe. It’s virtually like having a second skin! What’s more it is water resistant, so is perfect for this time of the year, when your face tends to melt off! Plus it is meant to be 13 times more transfer resistant than other makeup brands. I can confirm that during my week of quick changes and long days on set that this didn’t come off or need topping up, only a little sweep of powder on the T-zone. My skin feels like it has nothing on and I tend not to need to use a concealer when using this because a) it covers all imperfections and b) my skin seems to be less spotty and clearer since using this the past 2 months. Plus if it’s good enough for Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot…it’s good enough for me!
I tamed the beast of my barnet by pulling up into a fuss free top knot using the ever uh-mazing Magi-Bobbles (as featured in our May Must-Haves) and kept the frizzies at bay with a good spritz of Richard Ward: The Chelsea Collection’s Keratin Smoothing Mist. I find this little beauty is bae at banishing flyaways and calming frizz between washes and is gorgeous as a blowdry spray after washing to get a smooth, glass-like shiny finish, thanks to the wonders of Argan oil and awesome in this little bottle. It is a bit of a miracle worker as my hair CAN be known to resemble Monica from Friends in that episode where her hair can’t stand the humidity!
Running about like a loon shouldn’t impact on your style and I find that in times of time-based stress, this is when I love to stretch and test my OOTD worthiness. By thinking smart and planning your outfit and laying it out the night before, I find I feel I have more of a handle on my time, regardless of how short of those spare minutes and hours I seem to be. What are your go-to time-saving style tickers? Would love to swap some savvy style tips in the “Comments” section below!
Until next time fillies,

First off … you are so stinkin cute! I love the pop of color. I love how you’ve taken something anyone can get and just made it accessible and cute! I personally can’t wear something with a major slit in it. Wish I could pull it off but no one needs to see that much skin on me. lol

Awwwwww that’s so made my day lovely thank you! The award for the nicest comment goes to you. I’m sure you could pull off a similar look, though I understand the split is not for everyone and have spotted many without it 😀
