Much like our favourite finned filly, Ariel, we want to be where the people are…and that seems to be at the hottest festivals this summer! But fear not fellow land lubber, with a few fabulous products and our oh so easy how to, you can have luscious mer-mazing mermaid hair this festival season, whether you are on land or sea…or even at a festival in the first place?! So click this way and find how you too can incite Ursula-like envy with your easy, breezy wavy mermaid waves! Please note: No fork comb a la The Little Mermaid needed!

 The secret to great hair starts at the roots right? Remember investing in your hair is important – think of your hair as the crown you never take off, princess! So in order to build luscious locks that will make a strong foundation for any hairstyle, you need good haircare products STAT. Our hair has been taking an utter battering of late which has been leaving it limp and lack-lustre. So whilst scouting around for an easy and effective hair care programme, one name kept popping up: Nanogen!

This little lot of lushness is the perfect system to rebuild “abused” hair that is thinning, naturally fine or needs a bit of rebuilding and thickening up, immediately, as well as building up results cumulatively the more you use. Start off by getting in a lather with the winning of combo of Thickening Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner that will thicken your hair from the very first wash. Then liberally spritz your roots to tips before blow drying with the light weight but heavy hitting Root Boost Hair Thickening Spray to create a big bouncy bonce! The product is heat activated, so IF you fancied a lil boost between washes, you can spray this onto dry hair too, blast with your hair dryer and hello oopmh! For a more intense treatment for finer haired or thinning fillies, you can apply the Hair Growth Factor Treatment Serum to your scalp and massage. With the highest levels of hair growth ingredients without consultation, this is a god-send!

Now we have created a great base, it’s time to pump up the volume and start making waves! Tip your head upside down and start blow-drying the roots, massaging them as you go. The object is dry the roots but not the mid-lengths at this stage. Once the roots are dry, pull your hair up into a high ponytail. To get the ideal placing of your pony, tip your head slightly back to create tension and pull it upwards from above the tips of your ears diagonally and you will find it will naturally sit it the right and most flattering place for your face. If there’s a few bumps, that’s no biggie – it adds to the “undone” look of this style. Spritz on Richard Ward: The Chelsea Collection’s Keratin Smoothing Mist over the top of your head to keep that frizz at bay and create a glorious sheeny hold.

To start creating your mermaid waves, it’s time to get your scrunch on! Spray the length with a generous amount of Richard Ward: The Chelsea Collection’s Keratin Bulking Spritz, getting it right into the hair by parting and spraying up into it. Then turn your hair dryer back on, aiming upwards and start gathering up sections of your hair, scrunching them to start creating relaxed, loose beach waves in your hair easily that last. This product offers not only heat protection but hold and adds more bulk to your hair.

Once you have created the level of wave you desire, it’s time to up the texture ante and nothing adds yummy, thickening matte lushness than Sexy Hair’s Big Push Up Thickening Finishing Spray! Again, spray the product in small bursts upwards into the pony tail, focusing especially around the base of the ponytail to create a bit of height and fullness without the need to backcomb (win). To create the backcombed effect, simply spray your desired section and rub where you have sprayed to create mega watt volume! Creating lightweight and long-lasting volume, Push up also has the added bonus that it offers UV protection, perfect for all that British sunshine.

And there you have it! You have created a festival perfect mane with volume that is easy to create and wear AND that’ll last you from sunrise to sunset! If you want to wear your hair down and have free flowing beachy mermaid waves all over, it’s totes easy  to use this wave-making volumising technique. Simply skip the ponytail prep stage at the beginning and “scrunch create” your waves all over using your products and hair dryer. Glorious!
