If you think your skin deserves the royal treatment, you might just be about to read the perfect blog post for you! Not only has this two step, adaptable programme seen me through the ravages of winter, but now its beating the great British summer too (for however long that may be here for). This dynamic duo is stepping up and delivering my parched skin hydration without the sweaty looking shine, one (or two pumps) at a time. Click this way and discover why this “purple reign” will never be likely to end…
Fitzjohn Skincare has been on my radar since my previous review of their Radiance of Venus Advanced Skin Brightener (read post here), so I was super keen to see what other skincare awesomeness they had on offer in terms of moisturisers. I wanted something adaptable, something I could layer up if needed, delivering much needed nourishment but also feel light on the skin too. I hate it when a cream leaves a claggy film that rolls off *shuddering at the thought as types*. I want something that disappears in fast and leaves a perfect, smooth base for make up. Being combination skin, this can be a tricky tightrope of moisturisation to walk, with some areas needing more care than others. I was asking for a lot, but based on past product performance, I was hopeful that Fitzjohn Skincare would deliver.
Speaking to Ethel Fitzjohn, the brand’s creator, for much needed and well informed advice, she recommended I go for two products – the Balancing Facial Moisturiser and the Rejuvenating Oil. Both can be used day and night, separately or layered (oil then moisturiser), so I could customise my hydration needs as necessary.
I started using both just before I started a very busy and hectic tour. Usually my skin can go CRAZY whilst touring! A combination of heavier makeup for the stage, being “on the go”, tired, not eating the best and the constant in and out of hot and cold environments and air con can add up to spotty, dry, flaky skin. So using this combo whilst my skin was at its most stressed seemed like the ultimate test!
For days when I was on stage, I opted for the Balancing Facial Moisturiser as it does exactly that – balances the dry and oily parts of the skin and acts like an amazing primer for makeup. A couple of pumps melted into the skin with a creamy yet fresh texture, evening out the skin to a consistent, dewy but not shiny glow. Makeup lasted longer and didn’t cling to dry patches…as there wasn’t any! Plus it has the most divine lemony scent. Packed with only natural and clever ingredients such a organic Jojoba oil which mimics natural Sebum production, therefore preventing excess oil production, this product is a naturally clever skin trickster!
For days when I was travelling to venues or was wearing less makeup or braved a no make up day, I chose to feed my skin with the Rejuvenating Oil for a lighter but deeply nourishing treatment under my usual SPF. Popping a couple of pumps into my hands, I would warm up the oil before pressing my palms into my skin. What I loved was how nourishing this dry oil was without any kind of greasiness and absorbed beautifully quick. If I felt I needed more, I would add it without feeling build up, just extra hydration. The perfect way to wake up myself and my skin! Containing youth enhancing goodies such as Vitamins A and E as well as a plethora of potent natural ingredients, this little serum promotes elasticity, luminescence and collagen renewal for a very welcome skin boosting punch.
To supercharge my skin at nighttime, I would layer the Rejuvenating Oil under the Balancing Facial Moisturiser for a double whammy treatment whilst I slumbered. The very definition of “Beauty Sleep” in liquid form, any sign of red, dryness, patchiness would have disappeared by the morning and my skin was left feeling cushiony and silky soft.
Not only do I think that Fitzjohn brings the goods, it also does it as ethically and naturally as possible, which will make you feel good (and ever so smug) for choosing them. Plus they look ruddy well gorgeous with their shelf-pleasing gold and purple packaging which beautifully doses out the product due its quality airtight pumps, keeping them fresh as a daisy and safe for travel!
Fitzjohn has become a permanent fixture of my skincare routine and I hope it becomes a part of yours too. Your skin will thank you for it!
Until next time fillies,
