We are all so busy nowadays aren’t we fillies? Rushing about from work to social engagements to social media, there never seems to be enough time to stop, unwind and enjoy some “me time”. But with the weight of the world on your shoulders at times, it is SO important to take the time to indulge yourself with some spa treatments. And what if we could show you some ways to create your very own spa in your own home? Perfect for a Sunday or when you have a couple of hours to yourself our routine, with a few fab hacks will have you feeling like a goddess in no time! Click this way and prepare to unwind FDJ LDN style…
Prep to Pamper:
Right! Prepare yo’self for ultimate relaxation. Put the phone away, get some pan-pipe music on the I-Pod and shut the bathroom door on the world…some serious “you time” is about to happen! Assemble your kit and be ready to leave that bathroom beautified.
Before you start running the hot water, you can easily create your own Green Tea bath. Green Tea bath’s are amazing for detoxifying as a fab way of kicking off your pamper session. Simply grab yourself a drawstring pouch and pop in 2-3 Green Tea bags. We’ve used Jadu Tea’s yummy to drink, as well as bathe in China Green Tea bags for a touch of luxury. You can use flavoured ones too for a more scented bath! Pop the strings of the pouch over the hot tap and let the wateer run through the bag, creating your bath infusion. If you don’t fancy bathe in Green Tea, why not try some lush Patisserie de Bain Bath Tartlettes? They look like cupcakes and the sweetest thing is they dissolve in the bath leaving it beautifully fragranced whilst moisturising with Cocoa and Shea Butter! Whilst the bath is running is the perfect time to grab a body brush and get your buff on. Use quick, circular movements all over the body towards the heart to boost circulation and get rid of toxins, plus to exfoliate. Simple! Fill the sink and cleanse your face thoroughly. We are currently hearting Exuviance’s Clarifying Facial Cleanser which quickly and effectively cleans your skin, improving its texture without drying. Follow this up with a good facial exfoliator such as Green People’s Fruit Scrub which is packed with organic awesomeness! In this time your bath should have run and your skin is now prepped from head to toe to absorb all the goodness to come!
Beauty Bath:
It’s time to assemble your squad for bathtime loveliness! Set the mood for relaxation by lighting your favourite scented candle. We stumbled across this delightfully decandent range of homewares from Subtle Whisper and just knew one of their candles would make our home spa experience extra special. When something comes in packaging this special we hoped the contents would be just as good…and we weren’t disappointed! We opted for a Pure and Transparent candle with its yummy scents of warming Musks, Vanilla, Dewberry, Cassis, Jasmine, Rose, Patchouli, Amber and a hint of Chocolate to indulge ourselves.
Breathe in deeply and sink into the warm waters. It’s time to bathe and beautify with some treatments! On your freshly exfoliated face, pop on your favourite face mask. We usually opt for Exuviance’s Bionic Oxygen Facial for a truly spa-like experience (Read our full review of the mask here). But this experience is not all about the face and body. Oh no, we cannot neglect the hair can we? It’s time to hydrate your mane to its full glory. We are huge fans of the OGX Beauty products and highly recommend indulging your locks with their Kukui Oil Shampoo. Lavish your locks with this ultimately hydrating and defrizzing shampoo which will have your hair shining and shimmering with health in no time. To really up the hydration, follow the shampoo (after rinsing in fresh water from the taps/sink – don’t be dunking your head in the bath water – we’re not animals are we?!) with a good hair oil. We recommend Natural World’s Coconut Oil Hydration & Shine Weightless Hair Oil, which smells like heaven and leaves hair heavenly hydrated but not weighed down or greasy. Pop it on and hair turban it for 5 minutes. The heat of the towel will help the product penetrate deeper. Rinse with clean water and prepare to emerge from the waters a new woman! But the pampering doesn’t stop there as the bath drains…
Finishing Touches:
It’s time to lock in all that goodness with some fab little products that will have you glowing in the days to come. We usually start off with a body product so that can be absorbing whilst you move onto your facial products. We are a bit obsessed currently with Fountain of Youth’s Double Action Anti Cellulite Gel. This salon product with Caffeine and Gotu Kola targets fat and orange peel whilst preventing future formation of the wobbly stuff! BEWARE: Do not be alarmed by the reddening and warming you will experience after applying the gel! It’s perfectly natural – it just means it’s working.
Moving onto the face, it’s time to let it drink in as much moisturise as possible. so it’s time to lavish it with serum and moisturiser. After applying your fave eye cream (ours is Fountain of Youth’s Eye Contour Gel – read our review here), why not pop on a zingy serum to perk your skin up? Our current fave for clearer, smoother skin is Balance Active Formula’s Vitamin C Power Serum which boosts the skin’s radiance a treat! We follow it up with Balance Active Formula’s Dragon’s Blood Lifting Cream which is so thick it’s almost like a body butter for the face. Slather it on and your face will feel drenched in moisture whilst smoothing fine lines (read our review of the whole range here).
Now you are ready to kick up your feet with a nice cup of tea and drift away…
Breathe in and Relax:
Just like in any good spa, after you have had your treatments you are left to put your feet up, breathe in the gloriously gorgeous scented atmosphere and enjoy a detox tea. So why wouldn’t you do the same in your home spa hey? For the most heavenly scent that’ll transport you to a beach far far away, you need to get your hands on some Valley Mill Coconut Soy Melts. Handmade with love in their Wales workshop, these Valley Mill Soy Melts are the perfect addition to your spa experience with their cute Cog design which melt into the lushest smelling pool of fragrance that fills not just room, but the house and lasts for hours, allowing for plenty of use. There is a wide variety of fragrances, so we will be sure to be purchasing more STAT!
Now it’s time to finish off your experience and what’s better than a nice cup of tea? And none come nicer for your tastebuds, your body and soul than the aptly named Spa Afternoon Tea from Jadu Tea! With Chinese Oolong which is known to boost metabolism and punchy polyphenols which help to oxidise fat, Spearmint for a refreshing way to help digestion, Milk Thistle for liver function boost and Dandelion, Burdock and Nettle which contain lots of vitamins and minerals, you will be sipping your way to a healthy boost easily. Plus, the tea comes in the lushest packaging that will make it a special occasion every time you brew!

It’s a bit of a beaut right? We have seen it done a few times and we do it ourselves fairly regularly and it’s really lush. Plus so much cheaper than buying the branded bath teas which basically do the same 🛀 Glad you enjoyed the post – we hope you stop by again!

Ah. Love a good pamper! There’s nothing quite like it, especially when it’s so cold and miserable outside all the flipping time!
