Growing up in the sunny Manchester, where we have everything but a beach as a famous Mancunian once said, was great but there was another thing I was missing growing up and that was on point clothes. Times were not always as good as they are for your friends over at FDJ HQ and I was often envious of those cool kids in school rocking the latest brands whilst I had knock offs from the market. One such item was a Navy Blue and White Ellesse waterproof – a half zip, over the head number which boldly had Ellesse across the chest and the iconic half tennis ball orange and red logo. I never got one, time passed and styles changed…until now! Click this way and find out how old school has become perma cool all over again with my Ellesse wishlist, FDJ Homme style…
In recent years, Ellesse has been making big waves in the market with active and casual sportswear backed by strong marketing using in shape celebs like Lucy Mecklenburgh. More important than that however, is the fact I can relive my youth and finally own the coveted Ellesse coat, thanks to Terrace Menswear.
The classic is back! According to my watertight memory, this was THE jacket. To me, it still holds up with the use of navy blue and white always being popular and of course, bold branding across the chest. Quick to pull on in the event of bad weather or just in case it gets a bit chilly, this takes the sport casual biscuit. But what if you aren’t outdoors? Make way for your new style bff boys, the polo shirt…
The Ellesse Polo Shirt:
Smarter than a t-shirt, a staple of every man’s wardrobe should be a polo neck shirt and I’ve picked two…one classic black and one a little bit more exciting. A plain black polo can be worn in most places and with most other clothes, whether it’s a pair of jeans to go to the mall or a pair of trousers for a round of golf. Button up the collar and you are good to go!
Now this one caught my eye! Initially, I thought this was another polo but on closer inspection it has the buttons in the right place but without the turn down collar, making this a Tee with a twist! It reminds me of an 80s American Football referee and I really like it. The button up collar really adds to the look and stands out against the crisp white.
The Matching Shorts Suit:
My next two picks give me a real 80s London gangster vibe and if you seen the film “The Business” with Danny Dyer, you’ll know exactly what I mean.
Whether it’s playing tennis in a homage to Boris Becker or doing your best Danny Dyer, you will look “The Business” with this pair. Perfect for the coming summer months, this combo is the best way to stay cool during the day and as the sun sets, pull out the jacket for effortless chilled evening vibes. Green and black striped bands stand out against the bright white with the Ellesse logo on matching left hand side, so you’re coordinated perfectly. This combo could also be worn with either the all black polo or the white t-shirt shown above.
My wishlist picks, as well as the expanded Ellesse range, are all available at Terrace Menswear, whether you want performance or simply stylist classic clothing with a retro vibe.
Until next time fillies,
