When Date Night rolls around, sometimes you just want to mix it up! Yes, dinner out or the cinema is fandabbydosey, but come on…it’s great to do something just that little bit different. So one Friday we decided to throw caution to the wind and take Date Night to a more competitive place – Junkyard Golf, Manchester. But was it a swing and a miss or a Date Night hole in one? Click this way to find out! *WARNING* This post is likely to contain golf-related puns throughout that some readers might find disturbing…
Nothing beats a bit of a crazy golf right? Right! But when you throw into the mix fab food, cool cocktails and the kitschest surroundings a gal’s Instagram dreams are made of, then yeah – you have taken the concept to a whole new level. That particular Friday we were in the mood for fun with a capital “KRRRRAZY” and venturing to Junkyard Golf seemed like the place to get our fix. One of our very first dates was to crazy golf, so it seemed the perfect flashback moment to go again…and up the experience ante. And Junkyard Golf certainly delivered!
With beer and putting club in hand, it was time to start our adventure! On first impressions, this is unlike any crazy golf you will have been to! On closer inspection, you become more and more joyous that it isn’t. With tongue firmly placed in its cheek, Junkyard Golf is an experience that serves up joyous shrieks of delight at each new, quirky, comical hole. With heavy nods to modern culture in the names for each hole, coupled with an achingly relaxed and cool vibe – this is not only a great Date Night place, but one that would be great to whirl around with friends or for a bit of team building on a work night out. With a bar area as you arrive serving up all kinds of Americana inspired food and drink porn, it’s also a great place to hang out, whether you decide to get yo’ putt on or not! PLUS there are two different putting circuits, so you can try a different one the next time you visit! Huzzah!
The whole circuit took around an hour and a bit, including a refreshing pitstop to top up beer at the halfway point at the hidden bar mid-putt. What I liked is that you didn’t feel rushed around and there were plenty of little tables dotted about to perch on, drink and regather your thoughts and your golfing A game…or to let the people behind you go ahead as you took 20 goes to crack a particular hole! I liked the mixture of difficulties of par, the use of unexpected paraphernalia such as boats and bathtubs and the use of lighting, music, comedy and kitsch. Reflecting its name, Junkyard Golf, this certainly was a mish mash of awesomeness! I mean, who wouldn’t want to tackle the “Corruption Eruption”, “Toucan Play at that Game” or hit a hole in one around big badass bears dressed as Mexican wrestlers? Myself and the mister giggled our way around the circuit like a couple of loons, especially at many of our ill-fated attempts at sassily trying to get one par up on each other!
Junkyard Golf, Manchester – I am putt-y in your hands (get it, putt-y, ya know as in putting, as in golf? Oh never mind!).

This looks the most fun place for a date night! So much better than a meal out or trip to the cinema. I’ll have to see if there’s anything like this near me as I’d love a night out at something like this.

This place reminds me of the indoor crazy golf place they have in Great Yarmouth. I live in a town where the world championships for crazy golf happens x
