A Non-Surgical Facelift?: The ChinUp Mask Review

You read right fillies – a non-surgical face lift! We were somewhat dubious too when we found out about this product that claimed you could  lose 2cm+ of fat off your chin in just one use. That’s something worth looking into right? Right! So click this way and discover whether the hype is the reality…

When the ChinUp Mask arrived at Fashion Du Jour LDN HQ, we were excited to try it as we had seen it pop up on social media and were utterly intrigued. How can something you wear for 30 minutes really deliver 2cm+ reduction in the fat under the chin? And does it really last for several days after use?

THE SCIENCE:
The ChinUp Mask is a combination of a serum infused sheet mask as well as a compressing strap that fits under the chin and fastens on top of your head. This contouring mask helps with double-chin removal through the combination of pressure technology and an arsenal of ingredients, such as Vitamin E (for moisturising, elasticity and smoothness), Q10 Coenzyme (antioxidant and anti-wrinkle/ageing), Corum 9235 (which warms and stimulates the absorption of the serum, promoting loss of chin fat) and ChinUp Mask’s own secret ingredient, Skintronics (which helps with fat release and boosts density of collagen and cell tension, lifting and firming by up to 20%, instantly). By using this contouring mask, it is claimed that you will see firming, moisturising, slimming, ageing defense and lifting effects and results. Now…that’s quite the claim!

THE PRACTICE:
Phew! Now we have tackled the science – let’s get to the practical shall we? Before starting, it is suggested you use the enclosed tape measure to measure yourself from ear to ear to record how many cm’s you have lost. Now…application! Upon unpacking the serum soaked sheet mask from its sachet, I was wary to make sure that I had applied it to the right place/right way round – as the illustrated directions on the packet are a little on the small side and only offer a side view. It would have been handy to have a frontal view or a full outline of the sheet mask of how the sheet looks unwrapped. The sheet mask smells lovely, with plenty of product on it. All well so far. Now came the tricky/uncomfortable part – the applying of the strap over the mask. Again, making sure the right bit was in the right place was a bit of a faff because of the tiny illustration, but I got there in the end, making sure my ears were popping out of the holes provided. WARNING – you don’t exactly look the sexiest fillies! Yup, it’s not the most flattering look on and is probably best saved till you have the house completely to yourself (hence why no photos of it fully on fillies – I couldn’t bring myself to share the image of myself with you all). I must admit the thought of wearing the mask for the recommended 30-40 minutes was almost unbearable due to sheer discomfort – not only from the compression of the strap, but also the tingling heat from the serum itself. It was only under the small print cautions on the side of the box that I was alerted to the “warming sensation” that helps the ChinUp Mask work, but still the sensation was alarming. After 15 minutes, it was more tolerable but the whole experience was not relaxing in any way…but if pressure technology is used, is it ever going to be comfy?

35 minutes later it was time to remove the mask – HUZZAH! I rubbed the leftover serum in, which was actually lovely to massage and I could feel my chin and neck area was a lot smoother and that the serum was nourishing and moisturising. The burning heat died down almost immediately too, I was relieved to discover! But what of the results – had I lost the miraculous 2cm+ of chin fat???

THE RESULTS:
Well, these I can’t really argue with! The method might not be the most comfortable or enjoyable of experiences, but if it gets to THIS end game below, then it’s potentially worth it!

I measured again with the tape measure and discovered I had lost 1.5cms off! Pretty impressive! I felt my jawline was more defined and I could see a slight reduction in my double chin also.

So perhaps fillies the relative “pain” here is worth the gain? The product says you can use it every other day for improved effects over time. I however personally don’t think I could do that. That being said, as a measure before a big event, then YES! This is ideal for a boost and the effect lasts for a couple of days, so is perfect for a little extra wow! Perhaps as I age more, this is something I would see more results with, as being in my early thirties, my neck area isn’t in the worst way yet!

Until next time fillies,

    • Awww thanks Ana – you are such a doll! Yeah, there is a slight difference and I agree – I think the effect is cumulative…I just don’t know whether I could do this numerous times.

    • Agreed! You can’t really argue with them…but I don’t think the method is something I could do repeatedly. But it’s great for a big event and nothing ventured, nothing gained hey? 😀

  1. I can just imagine how glam this was for you, and the time ticking away slowly as you wonder how you can put up with it. But if you felt better for it, it’s got to be worth it.

    • Soooooo glam Jen – I just couldn’t bring it to the internet :/ Time did seem to warp slightly and there was little I could do but read blog posts to distract me…whilst clock watching. I was glad I gave it a whirl, pleased to see results, but I just don’t think this is for me to do repeatedly. Every so often though…potentially!
